Batayaki feast

Batayaki is another Japanese method of cooking wherein each one will cook their meal. Although it's similar to Yakiniku, food is cooked in an iron skillet. Also, this comes with batayaki sauce. Our version is made of soy sauce, radish, green onions and mustard. I don't remember the last time we had batayaki at home... maybe 2 or 3 years ago... but as you can see, it's not very often.

The setting
(Best to have it outdoors.)

The vegetables
Onions and garlic

Zucchini

Oyster mushrooms

Meat and seafood
Chicken and shrimp

Scallops and Cod

Steak

The condiments for the sauce are radish and green onions. Butter is used for cooking.

We start by cooking the onions and garlic with butter and oil.
(Once these are cooked, believe me these are yummy!)

I was too excited and hungry to take shots cooking the food... I just got the before and after looks.

Just keep in mind to put salt and pepper in the meat, seafood and vegetables for flavoring. You may also use togarashi. to have a little kick.* Of course, this is best eaten with rice for a satisfying meal.
