The hustle and bustle of Salcedo market

For 9 years, Salcedo market has served both locals and foreigners alike. With a variety of the freshest produce to home cooked meals, pastries, etc. it's no wonder many have made this a Saturday morning habit. Whether you're buying for the household or food tripping, this is the place to go to. I can assure you, your eyes and stomach will have a feast after looking at the numerous choices, so come along and bring your appetite. :D

There are 2 entrances: by Leviste street and Tordesillas street. As a guide, I'll start with the right side from the Leviste street entrance.

I have experienced fake takoyaki, the ones that are substituted with cheaper ingredients. Hachibi takoyaki is the real thing... has cabbage, Japanese mayo, bonito flakes and all the works.

Tita Ope is a nice and soft spoken lady. I recommend her Callos, Meatballs, Bread pudding and Ensaymada.

I enjoyed Taqueria Mia's quesadilla, complete with condiments: sour cream, hot sauce and salsa.

There are local milks that taste blah, the ones that taste like water. Personally, I find Holly's (including the low fat) the best local milk in town because of its creaminess. My favorite is the Chocolate milk.

I first discovered Carmen's Best ice cream through my sister. So far I've tried Salted Caramel, Malted Milk and Butter Pecan and they're just awesome!

These Japanese cakes offer assorted fillings, both savory and sweet. I find this interesting and yummy! It tastes like mini hotcakes with filling.

Omee, owned by my Tita Margie De La Rama (my Dad's cousin) is known for her Roast Turkey, which is a family favorite.  I also love her Beef Lasagna, Meatloaf and Swedish meatballs.

If you're looking for merienda, try Something Different's Chicken empanada and Mango tartlets.*

Another great merienda or pika pika food are Jacq's kitchen's dips, owned by my friend, Jennie Orros. My favorite is the Creamed Shitake Pesto.*

Having strawberries is a privilege because it's seasonal. When strawberries are available, we buy with no hesitation.

I'm never disappointed with the quality of the seafood. I was pleasantly surprised with the Salmon that I bought recently because it was really fresh.

For dairy items like Mozzarella cheese, buttermilk, or any other dairy items, go to Rizal Dairy Farms.

Picole ice pops have numerous kinds and flavors. Love the Corn Supreme and Strawberry Yogu Pop!

I'm impressed with the vegetables here, always fresh and picture perfect. Also, if you use fresh herbs, you can find it here.

I was pleasantly surprised with Ministry of Mushroom's mushroom burger because it was really tasty. I'm equally impressed with their oyster mushrooms which I've been using recently in my healthy cooking.

Being a fan of kakanin, I love Pamangan's karioka!
(rice balls fried in brown sugar)

If you love sausages, you will love Z's. I get excited seeing the sausages cooking.

For a healthy and refreshing treat, go for their fruit shakes. You may combine fruits.

Their is a softdrinks station for other refreshments.

Other recommended items:
Monchet Carballo -Paella, Bacalao
Monster Burger
Pork Barbeque

Best time to go is between 8-9. Based on experience, some vendors run out of stocks around 10:30 onwards. If you like what you see, I suggest you make this a Saturday morning habit too.
