Food from home: Going Japanese

I've had numerous Japanese inspired posts, both outside and at home which proves our never-ending love and appreciation for Japanese food. :D Since Mom and I are doing our best to be on healthy mode, we always enjoy a shabu shabu meal because it's simple, healthy and yummy.*

Shabu shabu condiments include ponzu and sesame sauce.* We like dipping in both sauces. ^_^

One of the things I enjoy is yoshoku, which is Japanese western food. Such examples of these include omurice (omelet rice), Napolitan spaghetti, terriyaki burger, curry rice, etc. The Japanese version is usually not too rich nor greasy, just right and yummy! Because of my craving, I decided one day to make some of my favorite yoshoku dishes.

Katsu sandwich
This is called katsu sando in Japanese. I'm a katsu lover... whether it's with rice or bread... I'll welcome it with open arms. I bought the pork in New Hatchin because I wanted to get the best quality. This has shredded cabbage and bulldog sauce.

Kani sandwich*
Another favorite of the family. This has shredded kani, Japanese mayo, mustard and lettuce.

Bunashimeji mushrooms
I discovered this when I was doing my shopping in New Hatchin. It looked interesting and yummy. This is supposed to be popular in Japan according to their staff. Of course I didn't hesitate and used it in my cooking and turned out great. :D

Carbonara
Supposedly Japanese carbonara according to the recipe. I could have finished everything. :D

Mom's seared tuna salad
I was thrilled Mom was cooking that night. Wasabi vinaigrette was used here so there was a little kick. This is perfect diet food. ;)

Shabu shabu -meat and vegetables cooked in boiling broth
Ponzu -a Japanese condiment made of soy sauce and lemon juice
Kani -crabstick

Strictly for pet lovers @ Whole Pet Kitchen

I love pets, I love dogs! The good news is we now have Whole Pet Kitchen, the only pet deli in town where you can bring your four-legged kids and relatives for scrumptious meals and treats which includes cakes, muffins and biscuits. :D I had promised my sister Nicole to take out Bingo, her four-legged son for lunch since I wasn't able to give him a walk previously (yes I walk her dogs sometimes when I can).

Bingo
The most handsome and charming date ever! This was before and after. ^_^

I love the homey and bright ambiance! The friendly and accommodating staff seemed to like Bingo already. He started sniffing everywhere including the kitchen, which the staff didn't seem to mind and thank goodness he didn't do anything messy. According to the reminders, cleaning materials are provided just in case. Also, a fence is provided to keep your furry friend from escaping... so you and your pet are in good hands. ;) I was happy to meet the owners, Giannina Gonzalez and Jack who came by that afternoon.

The 2 menus ^_^

Jack's lasagna
I'll base this one on Bingo's feedback... he finished this one and licked the leftover from the spoon... so that says it all. :D

Lalalasagna
This was tasty and comforting... and served hot. Love it!

Jack
Don't be intimidated by his size... he's a friendly and gentle dog. ;)

You may order the treats online for delivery too (I have been getting my gifts for my four-legged nieces and nephews here since last Christmas and they love it). ^_^  Congrats to Giannina and Jack!
