Pavlova week

Since I launched Pavlova (please see my previous posts: 2 Ps and More Pavlova and Pasta), I'm so pleased many enjoyed it. This is probably one of the lightest and most versatile desserts ever made. Based on experience, it seems the most popular is Mango, especially for balikbayans.* This was Pavlova week as I made 3... 2 Mangoes and 1 Nutella.

Nutella Pavlova
Nutella has been a favorite of the family for a long time. I remember Mom would bring home the small ones, the ones with plastic spoons. Since it's still trending, I thought it would be nice to have this in Pavlova too. This is definitely for Chocoholics like me. ;) #Chocoholic #NutellaLove

Food from home: Surprise, surprise!

Two weeks ago was just one of those days where I just wanted to lie down all day. Thank goodness that was only a phase. This week was muffin week, so I made 2 kinds...

Blueberry Muffins
We always use the packaged ones (sorry don't remember the brand). Dad and I have been looking for blueberry muffin mix for weeks and still no luck. I thought of surprising Dad by making the real thing. Believe me, it always makes a difference when you use fresh ingredients. I was surprised only 8 pcs came out, so will double the recipe next time. I was happy it turned out moist and yummy! I just love the burst of the blueberries inside!

Chocolate Chip Muffins
Since I was still in the muffin mood, why not make Chocolate Chip Muffins too? Just an excuse to give in to my constant chocolate craving. :P

But wait... there's more! This is something I have been experimenting for quite some time but never got back to it.

Creamy Parmesan Fish
I have been looking for a good recipe for baked fish with creamy sauce. I saw in Facebook a picture of Baked Tilapia from my friend, Jenyh. It had creamy Parmesan sauce with potatoes and broccoli. It looked so good so I decided to make it for dinner. In my version, I used Sole Fillet and cooked the sauce with garlic for more flavor and lemon zest to cut the richness. It was a good result. Thank you so much, Jenyh!

Overnight stay @ Fairmont Makati -Part 2

It seemed I was the most excited for breakfast because it's buffet (I'm known to be Ms. Buffet in the family). :P Good thing we woke up in time. Mom, my nephew Enzo and I were the first group for breakfast at Spectrum (please see this link for details). We were given a cheerful welcome and was able to get a table right away. #EarlyBirdCatchesTheWorm ^_^

Love the cheerful, cozy and modern ambience!

Jams c/o The Fruit Garden... Love it!

The Buffet

The kids were amused with the bees. ^_^

I made sure I took pics of every display. ^_^

Round 1: Hash brown, baked beans, Pork sausage, Longganisa, Classic Muesli

They just ran out of garlic rice so I had no choice but to wait for the next batch for round 2. The Longganisa has a sweet taste, which was surprisingly yummy!  The Classic Muesli contains yogurt, which I found too healthy.

Round 2: Waffle, Filipino Muesli, garlic rice, baked tomato, sausage, Longganisa, sunny side up egg

Finally the garlic rice came. :D The Filipino Muesli contains milk, cream, mangoes and Pistachios... liked it more than the Classic Muesli. Sorry I didn't take a pic of the sunny side up egg.

Round 3: Chocolate Croissant
I always end with something sweet. I'm not a croissant fan but I love Chocolate Croissant just because it's Chocolate. :D

I enjoyed the buffet in general because they had a complete selection. I was impressed with the cheerful and accommodating staff. I just wished I had more room in my stomach to try everything in the buffet... but there's always a next time. ^_^

Pool

After breakfast, I was the kids' chaperone and accompanied them to go swimming. I loved the pool, but too bad I didn't bring my swimsuit, so I just went online while they were splashing away. ^_^

To conclude everything, all of us enjoyed our stay. It was our first time and it definitely left us with a good impression. We loved the ambience, room and service. The staff always offered their services with a smile (thank goodness no one was blah). To name a few, they always offered to carry our bags. Also, they offered to place a router in our room when we had signal problems with the internet. I believe we'll be coming back again. Thank you to my favorite brother Dax who treated us here.

Overnight stay @ Fairmont Makati -Part 1

I'll admit it. Spending a weekend in a hotel is definitely something I look forward too. Since it doesn't happen very often, all the more it's a privilege. The thought of staying in a cozy room with TV, aircon (hotel aircons are always cold) complimentary sweets and slippers, breakfast and all the works just excites me. Last weekend was one of those privileges when we were invited to stay overnight at Fairmont Makati.

Lobby

Love the bright and cozy ambience!

Cafe Macaron
We weren't able to try it here but I hope we get to do so some time.

Let me show you to our room...

One of my favorite things in a hotel...

and these too... Yey!!! :D

Isn't this water bottle so cool? ;)

We all love the shower by the ceiling!
